The term User Interface is often confused or combined with User Experience design, but they actually represent different parts of a well-designed product, app, or website.
At its core, UX design uses a keen understanding of user behavior to identify and refine the optimal user pathways to accomplishing specific goals; UI design communicates the visual pathway that has been defined by the UX designer, and prioritizes a cohesive visual experience throughout. Ideally, these separate disciplines work together to create the perfect balance between form and function.
But the truth is, it won’t matter how awesome your product, app, or website is if nobody can—or wants to—use it. And that’s at the heart of why great UI/UX design matters. Check out our infographic below to see how UI/UX design impacts the overall performance of websites and apps from the perspective of your customers.
